Examples of generative artificial intelligence use across the academic disciplines.
"Educators are acting fast to consider the implications of ChatGPT and several other generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The following recommendations represent the CEP’s and IMATS' ongoing research into generative artificial intelligence and its implications in the higher education classroom, with recommendations for classroom activities, assignment design, and academic honesty and ethical considerations regarding the potential risks of this technology. This faculty guide accompanies the CEP's Student Guide to Generative AI."

The Copyright Clearance Center is a great resource that shows whether MBKU has copyright clearance to use a journal article and books/eBooks. Types of use include in-class handouts, articles uploaded to Moodle, coursepacks, or electronic reserves.
From the Getting Started page, click on the RightFind Academic link to access the tool. For more instructions on how to verify license coverage, click on the RightFind Academic User Guide link.

On the results page, look for the “How can I use this copyrighted content?” box next to the item record. This will tell you how you may or may not use the item. The green check marks indicate that you have copyright permission to use this material for certain educational purposes. Click on the use (digital sharing, photocopy sharing, etc.) to learn more.

You might also find results that have a green alert or red alert icon. The green alert icon indicates that copyright permissions do exist, but terms apply. The red alert icon shows that you do not have permission to reuse the item.

NOTE: If the CCC site offers permissions for a cost, the library does not cover these costs. Please check with your academic administrator prior to making any unauthorized purchases.
A "review copy" or "desk copy" is a complimentary copy of a textbook that a faculty member has selected for use in a course. Faculty members, including adjuncts, may request desk or examination copies directly from the publishers. Most publishers offer digital review copies for all textbooks so they can be accessed faster. Unfortunately, the Library cannot submit these requests on behalf of faculty—most publishers require faculty to create individual accounts.
Faculty can also access instructor materials from certain online portals for resources we already subscribe to, such as McGraw-Hill's Access Medicine.
Below is a list of publishers that allow faculty to request review copies of textbooks.

When in doubt, ask us! Not sure if a journal is predatory or not? Contact the librarians at library@ketchum.edu with the title and link of the journal, asking us to evaluate if you should publish in it, become an editor, and use the journal for research. We are happy to help!
