A proxied link is a particular type of link that links resources through the MBKU Library that can only be accessed with your library login and is permanent and stable. A proxied link directs the user to login with their MBKU credentials and then redirects them to the designated resources, such as a book or article, and avoids irksome error messages.
Use this guide to find and/or create proxied links to embed into course websites and syllabi.
Why should you be aware of proxied links? In some cases, simply copying and pasting URLs from your browser's address bar will not lead back to the intended resource or will prompt students to buy articles or subscriptions that are unnecessary. Many of these URLs were generated based on on previous searches and are often unstable meaning they could change at any time.
For those of us who are not technology savvy, the idea of a proxied link may seem foreign. However, with a few tips and tricks you can create proxied links easily.
